For my first Koontz book i was pretty impressed!! Finishing it in two days should attest to that. Colin Jacobs is a shy, awkward, bookish fourteen-year-old. His only real companions are those from the science fiction stories he loves. But his life changes when Roy Borden, the most popular kid in town, becomes his 'blood brother'. There's only one problem. Roy has a secret — a secret so terrible that Colin can hardly imagine it. By the time he comes to face the truth, it's almost too late. His own life is in danger — and no one will believe him... If you have seen the 1993 thriller 'The Good Son' starring Macaulay Culkin and Elijah Wood and enjoyed it as much as i did then this book should be right up your alley. Good kid meets bad kid-bad kid tries to convince good kid to do very very nasty things or he is not a true 'blood brother'. Colin not having many freinds ever in his life which means pretty much zero, doesnt want to dissapoint Roy who is the most popular coolest kid in town. Moral that i got from the story was doing bad things to impress a bad guy will only make bad things happen to you...tis all.
I like the way Dean Koontz writes often placing conversations between two charectors as you were actually listening to them yourself, not narrated and i like that kind of writing style.
A good book and i've already got my 2nd and 3rd Koontz books lined up (thank you Chapters)!!!
