Cat & Mouse (Alex Cross Novels)

Cat & Mouse (Alex Cross #4) - James Patterson #4 in the ever so cool Alex Cross series and it doesnt dissapoint. Picks right up a few months after the 'Jack And Jill' case and guess whose back? The evil serial killer Gary Soneji!!! He is back with a vengeance threatening to put an end to what he started way back in the first Patterson book devoted to Alex Cross 'Along Came A Spider' and to also put an end to the entire Cross family. Dual cases (which seems to be the way of most of the Cross books i have read so far) once again present themselves as not only does Cross with help from his huge partner/bff Det. John Sampson have to pursue Soneji they also have a new human threat known as Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith has been taking out victims in Europe with plans to branch out his services to the U.S. as well. Without delivering any spoilers, this book contains, in my opinion one of the biggest plot twists i have presently read in a Patterson novel. I normally read through my books and when a plot twist is delivered I kinda think "Oh wow!" when i read the one within 'Cat And Mouse' i actually shouted out "No freakin' way!!??" This book also has loads of great moments between the Cross family and thats a huge reason why i love Patterson to death, he really makes you love the charectors he chooses to use for any given project. The Cross's, The Bennett's, The Woman's Murder Club all containing such emotion that after the novel is done it leaves you feeling like you actually knew these people and will miss them till next time. All 'Cat And Mouse' did was make me crave more and more of the Alex Cross charector, a great read!!

Jack & Jill (Alex Cross Novels)

Jack & Jill - James Patterson Book #3 featuring Detective/Doctor Alex Cross and it was outstanding! I love all the main charectors Patterson comes up with, i don't quite know how he comes up with so many , however he does. In book 3 'Jack And Jill' Det. Cross is once again working double homicides as killer #1 is killing small children that attend the same public school Truth Adjourner Public to be exact, as Cross's own children Jannie and Damon. Killer #2 is a female and male team that go by the name of 'Jack And Jill' they are eliminating elite celebrity members such as politicians, actors etc. they have now set their eyes and determination on the Us President which in turn has Detective Cross working very closely with members of both the C.I.A and F.B.I. organizations. Explosive novel in this riveting and entertaining series of books. 'Jack And Jill' was my 20th Patterson read and my 3rd on the Alex Cross charector. Have yet to read a Patterson novel i disliked!!

The Quickie

The Quickie - James Patterson, Michael Ledwidge As i journey through my current mission to read every single Patterson book known to man kind...I found 'The Quickie' interesting title i might add which almost (and i did say almost)threw me off as the title alone made me think of some sort of Harlequin Romance novel of sorts, even though it was one of Jim's books. after finishing this novel i should've known better with the risk of sounding redundant, Patterson books keep getting better and better. It's hard to give away the storyline or synopsis if you will without divulging a few spoilers so i'll make it as breif as possible fer ya. Wife sees husband enter a hotel with an unknown female accomplice right away assuming he is cheating on her, goes and has her own fling thingy with a coworker of her own. Witnesses her p/t lover getting murdered risks her job trying to cover it up. Finds out her husband is not whom she thinks he is and whole lot of plot twists that i cannot divulge at this given time. Hey!! I hate spoilers as well and would'nt appreciate reading a review containg spoilers so i type out my reviews with the same sensitivity 'kept in mind. I swear all Patterson books that i have read so far are much better then going to the movies. God only knows they entertain me way more then whats being offered in the cinemas these days! An overall great read yet once again from the master of crime thrillers!

When the Wind Blows

When the Wind Blows - James Patterson Upon reading through Patterson's bibliography i saw several times the Maximum Ride series. Although the synopsis pertains more to a young reading crowd i was given 'When The Wind Blows' and after reading this I can tell you just because it is categorized as being a young reader it is definatly for all ages. I enjoyed it and found 'When The Wind Blows' actually very exciting at times. This novel is definatly a prequel of sorts as it gives you all the introduction you need to the Maximum Ride charector. The next book in the series and sequel to this apparently is 'The Lake House' which much like all Patterson books is on my must read next list.Max is an eleven year-old girl who is desperately trying to escape from a secret genetic research laboratory in Bear Bluff, Colorado Kit Harrison is a haunted FBI agent on leave. He's conducting an unauthorized investigation into the murder of a Boulder doctor. Frannie O'Neill is a dedicated Colorado veterinarian mourning the loss of her husband. She befriends Kit when he rents her cabin. Frannie and Kit make friends with the frightened Max. In turn, she reveals her part in the dark side of medical science. Those running the secret center search the dense forest for any sign of Max. They can't afford to have any witnesses to their experiments. The trio could very well lose their lives while uncovering the horrifying truth. After reading 16-17 Patterson novels i have yet to find one i dislike! A great read.

Honeymoon

Honeymoon - Howard Roughan, James Patterson The tagline on this Patterson book reads "Don't give away the ending...don't give away the beginning!" Well at first reading this, i was thinking "Ok I can understand not giving away the ending but the start?" Now after finishing this terrificly suspenseful novel i can understand why..and no i am going to stick to James Patterson's words cause quite frankly he speaks the truth here it would ruin it for you! This is a novel about a woman who is murdering her rich fiances/husbands and then emptying their bank accounts. All goes well until Life Insurance salesman Craig Ferguson crosses her path. Now Nora Sinclair has to either decide if she wants to get this nuisance out of her life or risk falling in love with him. Yet another spell binding book from whom i now refer to as the master of crime story mystery/suspense teller. Now finishing my 16th novel of Patterson's and about to start my 17th i have yet to find a flop in his list of reads...that my freinds equals up to an amazing and talented writer!

The 5th Horseman (The Women's Murder Club)

The 5th Horseman (Women's Murder Club #5) - James Patterson, Maxine Paetro The best of the Woman's Murder Club series so far! Somebody is killing patients at Municipal Hospital and it's up to Lindsay Boxer to find out who and why? When a member of the club's close family member is the next vic it brings the Woman's Murder Club investigations ever more personal then before. In Patterson's style of fast paced edge of your seat type reading, I found this book hard to put down! Patterson is the master!

Kiss the Girls (Alex Cross)

Kiss the Girls - James Patterson One of the best Patterson books yet. This was number 2 in the Alex Cross series. Well thought out cop thriller/mystery that has Detective Cross this time working out of the North Carolina district as he travels there after his niece is reported missing from her dorm at Duke University. Turns out someone is snatching beautiful 20 something girls by the handfuls down there, his niece included. Cross along with his partner Detective Sampson try to figure out if it's one or two un-subs they are in fact looking for. This book was very hard to put down at times with a few clever plot twists although the book keeps you guessing right up until the final few chapters. I like the Alex Cross charector who let alone having the misfortunes he has had in life still feels the drive within to stop the baddies on our planet. Looking forward to book 3 in the Det. Cross series 'Jack And Jill

City of Night (Dean Koontz's Frankenstein, Book 2)

City of Night (Dean Koontz's Frankenstein, #2) - Ed Gorman, Dean Koontz Well OMG! Like night and day from 'Prodigal Son' I loved this second book and overly surprised as if you read my last review on the first book i was ready to pack it in on this series. Well i told myself as well as i am gonna tell anyone else interested in reading this series, if you find the first book a little dull as i did please be patient as it gets so so much better! I love Koontz's assortment of charectors with this as well as his writing style as it fits my taste like a glove! The two detectives Maddison and Carson are still trying their best to deal with the fact that they have Victor Frankenstein again working his magic within the New Orleans city. Well according to the giant Decalion they do.. Frakenstein aka. Mr. Victor Helios is manufacturing a new breed of humans/monsters to take over the old breed(us in general) and it's up too the detectives to stop him before it's too late! Once again a fantastic read that i'm glad once again i hung in there!

Frankenstein: Prodigal Son: A Novel

Prodigal Son (Dean Koontz's Frankenstein, #1) - Kevin J. Anderson, Dean Koontz A new fan of Koontz, with so many of his works available to me i was having a heck of a time picking out my next book of his to get wrapped up in my first and only other Koontz book i had just finished before starting this was 'Voice In The Night' which for my first read of his, i found it very cool and intriguing. So looking at what our local Chapter's bookstore had to offer i saw the Frankenstein series. Now we all know how many times both directors and authors have pretty much 'bled out' the vampire storyline, i thought 'I have read about vamps, werewolves, witches but never anything about Dr. Frankenstein and his evel creation so i decided to take a chance and slap my hard earned money down on not only book one( I am a fast reader and i know if i get caught up in this i will just go buy book 2 anyways)but book two as well. Now after finishing 'Book One: Prodigal Son' I wasn't at all impressed. It happens to be one of those things i have trouble putting into words, however there are some maybes. Maybe i don't find the Frankenstein concept interesting enough? (I havent even read the classic Mary Shelley version yet) Maybe i found the storyline draggy with no OMG's I cant wait till i get to the next chapter to see what happens next. This is my opinion is a little early as this, like i said being the second book of Koontz's i have read, to say that maybe he isn't an author for me? Well, i am going to read book 2 (i paid for it dammit!) and maybe this series just takes a little longer than others to kickstart my anticipation, cause if it's the same...well their wont be a book 3 or 4 in my collection.

The Voice of the Night

The Voice of the Night - Brian Coffey, Dean Koontz For my first Koontz book i was pretty impressed!! Finishing it in two days should attest to that. Colin Jacobs is a shy, awkward, bookish fourteen-year-old. His only real companions are those from the science fiction stories he loves. But his life changes when Roy Borden, the most popular kid in town, becomes his 'blood brother'. There's only one problem. Roy has a secret — a secret so terrible that Colin can hardly imagine it. By the time he comes to face the truth, it's almost too late. His own life is in danger — and no one will believe him... If you have seen the 1993 thriller 'The Good Son' starring Macaulay Culkin and Elijah Wood and enjoyed it as much as i did then this book should be right up your alley. Good kid meets bad kid-bad kid tries to convince good kid to do very very nasty things or he is not a true 'blood brother'. Colin not having many freinds ever in his life which means pretty much zero, doesnt want to dissapoint Roy who is the most popular coolest kid in town. Moral that i got from the story was doing bad things to impress a bad guy will only make bad things happen to you...tis all. I like the way Dean Koontz writes often placing conversations between two charectors as you were actually listening to them yourself, not narrated and i like that kind of writing style. A good book and i've already got my 2nd and 3rd Koontz books lined up (thank you Chapters)!!!

Along Came a Spider (Alex Cross)

Along Came a Spider - James Patterson I read the whole Michael Bennett series and am halfway through the woman's murder club, so i decided i needed a change in charectors and decided to start Patterson's Along Came A Spider. Although a good read after finishing this the 1st in the Cross series i'm stil a little leary on if i am going to take to this charector or not? I do have the big screen adaptation on stand by which i am going to watch real soon. Probably will like the book better as that's usually the case. A good read although with loads of plot twists and turns in it.

Ghost Road Blues

Ghost Road Blues - Jonathan Maberry Re-reading book 1 of the Pine Deep Trilogy as now there are two more sequels to read. I originally picked this book up for something to read whilst being on the bus thinking oh well if it sucks it filled the void of a couple of boring bus trips if anything. Low and behold what i got was a an awesome hard to put down book that apprently was Maberry's first. Maberry is a gritty writer, pulling no punches when it comes to either vulgarity or voilence, however the man knows how to write a good horror story. In fact i was so impressed with this guy i would think if he keeps this up i can easily say he deserves to be up on my bookshelve besides the likes of my other favorite horror writers such as John Saul or Stephen King. I had almost forgotten about this book as it is know very hard to find. Having finally ended my quest and scored a copy from a pal of mine i am totally looking forward to reading the other two books.

The 6th Target (The Women's Murder Club)

The 6th Target (Women's Murder Club #6) - James Patterson, Maxine Paetro Another great chapter done in The Women's Murder Club Series!!! This time around after Claire Washburn gets shot on a ferry boat by a mad man, Lindsay Boxer is off once again doing what she does best and trying her best to also balance her love life as well. To add to her career choice madness, someone is also snatching children around town as well only they are not looking for ransom? Another superb read by the master of crime fiction James Patterson!

4th of July (Women's Murder Club)

4th of July - James Patterson, Maxine Paetro Well that's my 4th book done in the Lindsay Boxer and her pals a.k.a. The Women's Murder Club. I havent gotten sick of this storyline at all and i like it as much as i did the Patterson book's featuring Nypd supercop Michael Bennett. Next book up is the 6th in the series due to the 5th once not being available at the present moment. Hopefully i'm not ruining the series for myself by doing this?

3rd Degree (The Women's Murder Club)

3rd Degree (Women's Murder Club) - James Patterson, Andrew Gross 3 books in and the Lindsay Boxer and the Woman's Murder Club saga has no symptoms of slowing down. Out for her weekly jog, Lindsay and her faithful canine pass by a townhouse just as it blows sky high! Being the heroine that she truly is, she plunges into the burning domicile, owned by an internet millionaire, she finds all 3 occupants dead and the familie's baby is no where to be found. This bit of nastiness only tops off incidents that appear to be happining every 3-4 days to a range of people who are prominent in the business community. Lindsay once again pulls together her bff's Jill, Claire, and Cindy aka. The Woman's Murder Club, to assist her with solving these latest crimes. A band of people? A terrorist cell? Who is responsible for these latest batch of killings? Hopefully Lindsay can find out before death reaches her own precious Woman's Murder Club as one of her own becomes the killer-s next intended victim. I am enjoying this series immensly and cannot wait to start 4th Of July!!

2nd Chance (The Women's Murder Club)

2nd Chance - Andrew Gross, James Patterson After reading all the Patterson books that revolve around the Michael Bennett charector i looked through his bibliography for my next read (as i plan to read all his stuff eventually) and i read the synopsis for the woman's detective club (noting how many their were)i was thinking i dont know??..A story about a bunch of women solving crimes? A little too girly for my tastes. Well now after finishing book#2 '2nd Chance' i can't wait till i start book #3!! Detective Lindsay Boxer has decided to take some time off after solving the gigantic Hollywood 'Bride-Groom' murder case. By taking time off i mean she is staying away from the SFPD and doing some work in a half way house. She is lured back by a promotion and is immediatly placed into yet another big case. Another mad person is commiting racially motivated hits. These are not just drive bys but sniper talented precision hits. Lindsay and her team of BFF's The Woman's Detective Club aka The Margeurita Girls once again cram their heads together as the crimes become more and more personal for various members of the club. Another fantastic edge of your seat read!! I'm really liking this Patterson guy!
